Week 2 Day 5

 Storyboards- Day 5

Today is day five and I will be continuing the storyboard making. As of right now I have only done about half of the story. This is what I will talking about today, what each shot is, camera movements amongst other things. The other half will be completed tomorrow. For most of the opening there will be  narration present so it is easier for the audience to know what is going on. The very first shot is an moving aerial shot of a suburban neighborhood. The shot will be moving in the forwards direction. It will have natural light to illuminate how perfect it is. The credits will roll in also at this time. This will be a short take. Then, there will be a straight cut to Grace's house. It is a beautiful house with the sun illuminating it and a sprinkler going with birds chirping in the background. I made this shot like this because I wanted the viewer to really feel like they are in paradise. A house by the beach with plants all around and everything seems so perfect, This is also one of our 3 master shots, it will be filmed with a Steadicam to make the shot as still as possible. It will be shot at a low angle for a short take. This is where there will be some melodic sounds to show how the viewer should perceive Grace. Very calm and serene. Next, is a straight cut to Serena's house, a run down and not so pretty looking house. The sun has barely risen and the shot has low key lighting. This will be our second master shot. The song from before will fade out and another song will start for Serena, a more discordant sounding song. I added this in to make the audience recognize a change in location and tone. This will be a short take shot and it will fade into a sunrise that can be seen from her neighborhood. the sunrise shot will be a long take that can be seen as an ellipsis by the audience since it will look like it is rising over time.  The next shot will be a straight cut to Serena sleeping. She will look like she is all over the place to the audience. I did this because it gives to her character, a messy one. It will have a low key lighting, since the sun isn't illuminating her face just yet. It will be a short take and an still aerial shot. The next shot is a straight cut to Grace making lunch for the day. There will be high key lighting and it will be a wide shot. This will also be a short take. I added this little scene between Grace and her mother to give to Grace's character and how she is meant to be sweet and considerate. Next is a straight cut to Serena still sleeping but now it is chiaroscuro shot, half her face is lit up by the sun rising while the other half isn't. Again this shot is aerial. Next it will be a fade in to Grace driving her car to go pick up Serena, it then changes to an action match of her texting Serena she's here. This was added in to show how Grace is productive throughout her morning while Serena is seen to "peacefully" sleep. The next shot will be of Serena getting woken up from the text and jolting awake and the camera will pan over to her running to her bathroom and shutting the door. I added this in to show how disorganized Serena is meant to be viewed as. This will be a wide, tracking, long take shot. Then the camera will be in the backseats of the car and it will be a shot of Grace waiting for Serena in her car and Serena walks in and apologies. This adds to their relationship, Grace is forgiving as always but Serena never changes. That is their main issue. There will be lots of dialogue from here on out and less narration. That is what I have done today! Here are the locations I decided we would shoot at. (my house, school, and Sydney's house) for you to see.
