Week 2 Day 6

 Storyboards- Day 6

Today is day six of the planning period. In this post I will be telling you the rest of the storyboards. This is just a rough draft and as filming is done, there may be some changes. The shot from the car will be a straight cut that shows Serena and Grace walking into school. It will be a wide shot natural light since their school is an outside school. This shot will pan into the next shot. Grace is talking to Serena but as the camera pans over you can see another group of kids calling out for her and Serena gets up and just leaves Grace. I made the scene like this because I thought this would add some tension to the film. This will all be a long take also. The next shot will be a wide shot of the school and the bell's ringing signaling that school is over. The next shot will be a straight cut to Grace texting Serena from her if she needs a ride but she hears some laughter next to her and she sees Serena with that same group of people. This is an over the shoulder shot. This was done because the audience should feel sorrow for Grace and be mad at Serena for being such a bad friend. This is where we will insert an type of sad song to change the mood of the film to more melancholy. The next shot will be a fade to Serena's house master shot and then a straight cut to Serena walking in and her mother making a big deal about the time she's home. I added this because now you know the relationship between Serena and her mother. Total opposite of Grace and her mother. Serena's is more off putting. Next will be an action match of Serena slamming the door. We will insert narration in some of these shots to add more knowledge to the audience. Finally the next scene will be an argument the girls get into over the phone to show how they are becoming more and mor distant. It will be back and forth shots of them talking and then the screen will split after the girls hang up and show how they are both upset in their rooms. Then the screen will fade out and show the title. Of course this is all a rough draft and can change, but for now this is our film. I do believe we will change a lot of shots and what is done because that is part of the planning process. As filming is done and I see what looks best we can change up a few things. The whole point of this opening is to how the life of teenagers and their friendships. Most coming of age films have a story about friendships and self discovery and that is what we are trying to do. Some coming of age films I have watched in the past week to get to known the genre more is Mamma Mia, The Perks of being a Wallflower, The Edge of Seventeen, The Outsiders, and Good Boys. Today I have finished the storyboards, posted about them, and will begin the script tomorrow.
