Week 4 Day 12
Group Meeting - Day 12
Today is day 12 of the project. I have have planned out our opening, set a script, made story boards, set times to film, and have filmed more than half of our project! I think we have made a lot of progress so far. In this post I will be talking about the plans for the rest of the scenes we need to film and what choices that have been made so far in the production as we have discussed today in our group meeting. So far we have filmed all the separate scenes with just Serena and with Grace. For example, scenes of their daily life and the scenes of them in the car. The only scenes left are the schools scenes which we will be shooting on Wednesday February 21st. For the scenes we have filmed this is what I did. For my character, Serena, I dressed in dark colors and was not very well groomed. My hair was messy, I had last nights makeup on, and my room was a mess. The lighting was low key to show the gloominess of my character. I made sure to mess up my room a little and to dress the part. I also added some smudged makeup to add to my character. When I get to editing I will add discordant music to notify to the viewer what kind of character I am. When I was setting up beforehand I made sure to block out any light coming in and to start early in the morning so the sun light would not affect the lighting too much. I used the Steadicam for the waking up scene and the microphone for the car scenes. While with Sloan's character, Grace was dressed in very bright and vivid colors that brought out her blonde hair and tan face. We made most of the shots for Grace in high key lighting to signify the happiness that is with her character. Once we start editing I will had melodic music to add to Grace's character. The time of day that filming took place was early afternoon to really let the light in to help achieve the character aesthetic. The scenes at school we will be dressed in our character's outfits. Mine being a grey Nike hoodie and black leggings with dirty converse. My hair will be tied in a messy low bun and I will have messy and black mascara on. Sloan's will be wearing a white shirt with the number 14 on it from a popular store called brandy since we all felt like Grace would shop there, and she will be wearing light washed jeans. Her makeup will be minimal but highlighting her features and her hair will be straight. This is all done to give the reader more on the character. You wouldn't think someone wearing a hoodie and leggings with a messy hairdo is very nice, would you? The school scene lighting will be harsh because of the florescent lights. This will change the mood since now is it showing inside the character most stressful place. I will help out by again providing the props and help Sydney pick out which scenes she should keep. I will explain what we do for the school scenes once they are actually filmed. Here are the roles again. Sydney is director, me and Sloan are the actresses, editor is Sloan, and the rest are mostly the same as I said in a couple blog posts ago. I think the whole filming process is very fun and it help that I am friends with my group mates. Each day we filmed for about 2 hours.
