Project Beginning- Week 1 Day 1  The beginning of the eight week period where I will begin to start my final project for AICE Media Studies has begun.  Today, I found out who will be in my group. It will be me, Sloan, and Sydney. I chose these people to be in my group since I know they are both very hardworking and will put a lot of effort into this project, It also helps that we are friends. I discussed with them some ideas that I had for the final project. I said how we should pursue the coming of age genre for the film since we have been doing a lot of research on this specific genre. I also discussed with them some potential plotlines of our film. For example, one of my ideas were of a young girl and her bestfriends growing up together and going through all phases of their life. My ideas include the main character going through some sort of ...

You Cont.

Activity 3.13     1. In the show, You , the hero and the villain are Joe Goldberg. This is because he starts off as a hero in women’s lives and helps them and gets close to them and their lives. But then he turns into the villain when they d on' t g i ve him what he wants, and he kills them. Since the narrative of You is linear there are different character types in each season. In season 2 Love Quinn is the helper since they help each other in their murders. The rest of Propp’s character types aren't present in the plotline of You .       2. The limiting factors found in Propp’s theory in You are that not all character types are in the show and some characters like Joe are multiple char acter types since it is a different type of show. More of seeing the POV of “the devil ”. J oe does not fit in the mold since he is both the hero and villain. He is helping the women with whatever he can find but also murdering them. This makes the vi...

Stranger Things Narrative

Activity 3.10 - Stranger Things     1. There are many story arcs in S tranger T hings . Each season there are different groups of characters that join to help further the plot and make story arcs. For example, in season 4 of the show there were 3 story arcs. They are very evident since they are all trying to do the same thing. The first one is Max, Dustin, Lucas, Eddie, Erica, Steve, Nancy, and Robin. They are trying to help Max with her episodes, and they go to the upside down. Next is Mike, Ele ven, Jonathan, Will, and Argyle. They are in California trying to go back to H awkins to save their friends . They are met also with circumstances that block them. And the last arc is with Joyce, Hopper, and Murray. They are in Russia trying to save Hopper and kill the Demogorgon and shut down the prison for good.      2. Yes, each story follows Todorov’s narrative theory. They each have an equilibrium, disequilibrium, and a new equilibrium. ...

You Narrative Analysis

Activity 3.7- You     1. The premise of the plot of the thriller show, You , is to follow the life and to get inside the mind of character Joe Goldberg and his unhealthy obsessions with the women that come into his life. Joe’s crushes turn into sinister murders. He uses the help of social media to stalk them and then to actually stalking them in their day to day lives. He doesn't let anything stand in his wa y , even people. Joe uses his charming personality and attractive face to insert himself into the women's lives.      2. The show, You , portrays the unhealthy habits of trauma , stalking, and psychopathy . Main themes that can be recognized in You are the relati onships between love and the need for control and the high possibilities of danger and abuse that women in the 21 st century face with their partners.     3. The narrator in You is the main character, Joe Goldberg. It really helps the viewer see into his twist...
